Who am I?

My name is Dorota. I am humbled and inspired to have the opportunity to become a part of the Proem Ministries team in Poland.

I walk onto this path in wonder with openness, commitment and hope in the faithfulness and truthfulness of God. Our Lord governs all, loves all with unfailing, compassionate ways and works in us and through us—ordinary people—forming, creating, deepening faith and bringing new things to life.

I spent the first two decades of my life growing up and living in Poland, which at the time was going through a socio-political transformation—from a country existing under the rule of communism to the reform movement of “Solidarity.” Consequentially the first democratic elections were held in 1990 in the Republic of Poland.

Those changes in Poland thirty years ago opened the doors for Maui Dwulat, a youth minister in the Christian Church in Warsaw, and his wife, Ewa, to start a ministry that would stretch beyond national identities and loyalties, beyond political sympathies and ideologies, to reach young people and their families with the truth of the Gospel. Their goal was to share Jesus’ teachings about the way of love and about the kingdom of God as the most spacious reality imaginable—where there is a place for everyone. It became Proem Ministries.

Meeting Proem

Just before finishing high school and continuing further studies at the University of Warsaw, I was invited to attend one of the first summer camps Proem organized. The witness to the Gospel and Jesus’ teaching of love, hope and freedom became a starting point for my journey with God.

As a university student, I served as one of the volunteers and later worked on projects at Proem Ministries for four years, counseling at the children summer camps, translating, editing and teaching Polish as a second language to ministry partners from the U.S. Maui and Ewa and other employees of Proem became my mentors, friends and family who walked lovingly and patiently by me, leading by example with their love for God and people. They have stood by me, encouraged me, supported me and at all times emphasized the wonderful opportunity to share the love of God through daily living, which is the source of and key to life for every person.

Returning to Proem

After living another two decades of my life in the U.S. as an adult, I now have an opportunity to become a part of Proem Ministries in Poland.

Because of what I have gained from the ministry of Proem, I am humbled and inspired to return. My desire is to serve and impact lives for the Gospel through genuine relationships and through creating an environment where the story of Jesus is told and lived afresh in day-to-day life.
