Small ways that will grow
Last time I posted, I wrote that my next correspondence would arrive from Poland. Since last Friday, April 29, I have been living and working at Proem Christian Center in Zakosciele, Poland.
Despite all the gratitude, anticipation, and knowing that God has been faithful making this path open, I had been also experiencing trepidation—I was coming upon familiar and yet, after twenty-five years of living in United States, somewhat unfamiliar terrain. Slowly and surely, however, even in these first several days, I am discovering a familiarity, meaningfulness, purpose and an order that deepens the call for the ministry here in Poland.
Every day, this first week here has been filled by seemingly small ways of being fully present to the day and welcoming adults and children who became part of those days. My new little Ukrainian and Polish friends were happy when helping with planning an herbal garden at Zako Rancho, trying to make friends with shy and gentle yet curious alpacas, meeting horses and other animals at the equine therapy activities, brushing ponies and helping with planting lavender, small shrubs and flowers. Together we had fun digging in the soil, planting, watering and chatting as we shared and listened to each other’s stories and as we learned Polish, Ukrainian and English words.
Every child was so excited to be able to help and be involved. I loved to see them just being joyful, curious and enjoying outdoors. I pray that God will grow all these moments of interactions into larger meaning for their lives in the ways I can’t even imagine at this time.
All of you are intricately and importantly interwoven in all these small ways of serving I am able to do here in Poland with Proem Ministries. Many blessings to each of you, my friends.
